Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer Contractor

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out engineering surveys of structural elements, providing engineering sketches for reinforcement/replacement/modification of steelwork, and reviewing/approving lift plans. They will also be required to carry out structural checks of structures for lifting/scaffolding/laydown proposals, report progress to the barge supervisor, and participate in weekly progress meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out engineering surveys of structural elements identified as requiring replacement or repair
  • Provide engineering sketches for reinforcement/replacement/modification of steelwork in accordance with standards
  • Review and approve lift plans
  • Carry out structural checks of structures for lifting/scaffolding/laydown proposals
  • Report progress to barge supervisor and participate in weekly progress meetings
  • Liaise with plant inspector and review inspection findings and carry out integrity checks accordingly
  • Coordinate with material coordinator to order required supply of loose material for offshore fabrication
  • Raise site queries to ensure visibility by all team members of scope growth
  • Provide support as required for other disciplines, mechanical & piping, rigging, E&I, etc.
  • Issue signed off sketches/drawings to Shell DCC
  • Check and approve calculations
  • Ensure scopes are executed offshore in accordance with the design drawings
  • Provide technical expertise for the structural design of new infrastructure and modifications to existing infrastructure for the energy sector
  • Interface with other disciplines, clients and third parties on emerging issues
  • Compliance with company engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes and standards
  • Ensure that all work complies with the Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate

  • Presentations sketches etc. to assist in scope communications
Requirements:
  • Brownfield Project Experience desirable
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry will be preferable but not essential
  • Suitable design experience within other engineering industries will be considered where appropriate
