Job Overview

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional engineering support, ensuring effective management of medical equipment within the organization. This position is dedicated to implementing best practice strategies for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and asset management of medical devices. The individual will contribute to providing comprehensive medical equipment assistance across various departments and wards.

Located in the Medical Equipment Department, the technician will also be expected to lend support to other essential areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct performance verification, cleaning, and safe handling/storage of medical equipment as necessary.
  • Aid in the execution and assessment of appropriate support for wards and departments, adhering to current organizational guidelines and protocols.
  • Drive and advocate for improvements in line with evolving engineering practices and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and COSHH standards within the department.
  • Maintain professionalism in communication and collaboration with contractors and staff.
  • Keep an updated training portfolio in accordance with organizational and role-specific requirements.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Basic proficiency in IT systems and data management.
  • GCSE qualifications in English, Maths, and Science.
  • NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electronic, mechanical, or biomedical engineering.

Desirable

  • Experience working within the NHS.

Additional Requirements

Essential

  • Valid UK driving license.

  • Ability to safely lift medium-weight objects as needed.
  • Good manual dexterity skills.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • General understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with working in a workshop environment.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of current standards for medical equipment/devices.
  • Understanding of NHS policies and procedures, especially in Finance, Procurement, and Health and Safety.
  • Engineering experience in a professional setting.
