Job Overview
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical Support Specialist in Nuclear Medicine. We are in search of a professional with a solid background in nuclear medicine imaging and molecular radiotherapy to contribute to our dynamic molecular radiotherapy service and routine radionuclide imaging operations.
The ideal candidate will hold HCPC registration as a clinical scientist and possess a certificated Medical Physics Expert (MPE) qualification with relevant experience. We encourage applications from individuals with HCPC registration who are not yet MPE certified, as we offer support to achieve this qualification within a mutually agreed timeframe.
Our organization provides a comprehensive clinical, scientific, and technical service to the Diagnostic and Oncology Directorates at both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells sites, as well as to other departments within the Trust as necessary. The section is responsible for delivering a Molecular Radiotherapy Service and supporting PET-CT operations.
We are committed to training and development across all disciplines and levels. Our department supports staff pursuing Higher Specialist Scientific Training (HSST), Scientist Training Programme (STP), and Registered Clinical Technologist (RCT) qualifications, or equivalent professional certifications.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Nuclear Medicine Physics team to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, national guidelines, and best practices in all radiation practices within the Nuclear Medicine Departments.
Utilizing professional judgment, the post holder will provide comprehensive expert advice to clinical staff regarding patient imaging optimization, quality assurance, radiation dosimetry, safety protocols, and the interpretation of scientific data.
Specifically, the role involves active participation in the molecular radiotherapy program, managing established services (including Ra-223 Xofigo, I-131 ablation, and therapies for thyrotoxicosis, as well as occasional Lu-177 Dotatate) and collaborating with the leadership in Nuclear Medicine Physics and Radiation Physics to enhance service offerings, including the introduction of innovative therapies as appropriate.
