Night Reception Centre Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Night Reception Centre Worker to join our team at Kent County Council's Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking (UAS) Children's Service. As a key member of our Reception Centre team, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent.
Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse team of managers and workers who are committed to ensuring children are protected and supported to take the first steps in their journey to a more permanent home elsewhere in the UK. As a Night Reception Centre Worker, you will be responsible for managing routines, setting goals for young people, timekeeping, and facilitating a learning culture in the centre.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support and care to UAS children in a residential setting
- Manage routines and set goals for young people to promote their development and well-being
- Ensure timely and effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders
- Contribute to a learning culture in the centre, promoting the development of young people
- Full induction and training to support your role
- Opportunities for career development and progression
- Basic salary of between £26,515 and £28,850 per annum
- Annual leave allowance of 27 days (29 days after 5 years service)
- Relocation packages up to £8,000
- Excellent local government pension scheme
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
Experience of working with children and young peopleStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively in a team environmentFlexibility to work across a rolling shift pattern, including regular cover over weekendsThis post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence. The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive, your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
