Renal Service Administration Specialist

Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated individual to become a part of our compassionate renal administration team. This position is ideal for those with strong organizational skills and a readiness to learn, regardless of prior experience in the NHS.

While specific knowledge in renal services is not a prerequisite, a proactive attitude and eagerness to grow are vital. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to ensure you understand our renal services and thrive in your role.

Our renal department is committed to delivering kidney care across Devon, emphasizing the prevention of kidney disease and the provision of haemodialysis. We operate multiple units throughout the region where patients receive essential dialysis treatment multiple times a week. This life-sustaining procedure is crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

If you have any uncertainties regarding your fit for this position, we encourage you to reach out for a discussion. You may find that you are well-suited for this role.

Position Details

For a detailed overview of the Job Description and Responsibilities, please refer to the provided link.

Role Specifics:

The Service Administrator will play a key role in supporting patients who require renal vascular access for dialysis. This access allows healthcare professionals to repeatedly access the bloodstream during haemodialysis treatment. The vascular access connects to a dialysis machine, which purifies the patient's blood and returns it to the body.

This position is non-clinical, meaning you will not be directly involved in the vascular access procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure patients are scheduled for treatment in accordance with NHS guidelines and referral standards. This role is dynamic and will require proficiency in using the trust's IT system, EPIC, a patient management tool. You will collaborate with consultants, nurses, and patients, necessitating strong typing skills, email communication, proofreading, and interpersonal abilities. We will support your development until you are fully competent in your responsibilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with proven experience in handling patient inquiries over the phone. Flexibility, adaptability, and strong IT skills are also important.

You should enjoy the challenges of working within a busy team while also being able to use your initiative to adapt to the evolving needs of the department and assist fellow team members as required.

Our teams consist of committed, patient-centered professionals who excel in communication and possess strong interpersonal skills. They are organized problem solvers with a keen eye for detail.

If you believe you can meet the demands of this rewarding and challenging role, we would be pleased to hear from you. Visits to the department are encouraged.

Work Schedule: Standard hours per week, Monday to Friday.

For further inquiries, please contact: The Admin Line Manager. We are an inclusive employer, and the Royal Devon values diversity, striving to create a culture where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential. We actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities, recognizing the benefits of a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
