Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Yard Operative to join our team at Biffa's Carlisle Depot. As a Yard Operative, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our yard, ensuring that our vehicles are properly maintained and our customers receive exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for keeping the yard clean and tidy, including sweeping and litter picking.
  • Take control of the bin stock, cleaning, repairing, and sorting bins.
  • Dig out and clean vehicles for pre-inspection and MOTs.
  • Drive LGV 2 vehicles to cover holiday and sickness.
  • Provide site operational requirements by dispensing duties as described by the Site Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Must remain aware at all times of your responsibilities for your own Health and Safety, for the Health and Safety of those directly responsible to you, your work colleagues, and any others who may be affected by the operations under your responsibility or control.
  • Must adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures, including those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, EMS System, IMS System, Management Guide, and any financial/accounting systems.
  • Apart from the duties summarised in your Role Profile, the company reserve the right to include other reasonable duties which are part of, and incidental to, this type of work.
  • Maintain the Depot and surrounding area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Required to work outside in inclement weather at times.
