Community Organiser Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Community Organiser to lead the revitalisation of a historic Grade II Listed building in Great Torrington. This is a unique opportunity to breathe new life into a vibrant community-owned bar, restaurant, and hotel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet with residents, local groups, and stakeholders to promote the project's vision and build enthusiasm for volunteering and investing.
  • Handle support letters, maintain a contact database, manage email and phone communications, and keep accurate records.
  • Perform basic bookkeeping and assist in managing project finances.
  • Promote the project and share updates through various social media channels.
  • Organise community events and promotional activities to raise awareness and increase engagement.
Requirements:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
  • Comfortable with basic bookkeeping and financial administration.
  • Proficient in using social media platforms to engage and inform the community.
  • Experience in organising community events is a strong advantage.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

This is a self-employed position, reporting to the Board of Directors, working 17.5 hours per week. All work-related expenses will be reimbursed, and you may be asked to take on additional tasks to help meet project goals.
