Project Engineering Lead

The Leonardo Training Academy is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineering Lead to join our Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the success of all training activities on assigned projects, ensuring technical quality, schedule, and budget adherence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the training design, development, and delivery aspects of projects, ensuring technical quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage personnel, ensuring clear roles within teams.
  • Create a positive working relationship with customers and partners to deliver project training capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain good lines of communication internally across the Engineering Management community, Academy IPT lead, Project Managers, and functional heads.
  • Work closely with training Governance and Systems Design Authority to ensure they are fully informed on technical progress, technical risk, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure the training solution meets end-user requirements, is complete, fully documented, and compatible with the business area route map.
  • Control training configuration and change management to ensure design reuse is maximized.
  • Run bids and estimating activities from a technical point of view.
  • Support the management of Suppliers and project Make or Buy decisions.
  • Capture candidate concept solutions, including the results of any trade-off studies and end-user engagement.
Requirements:
  • Strong technical/engineering background, ideally within the EW and training domains.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, but also demonstrate team working skills.
  • Experience of working across the full engineering development life cycle.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an engineering/technical subject.
  • Good problem-solving ability.
  • Understanding of Electronic Warfare Operational Support.
  • Commercial and business awareness.
