Position Title: Support Specialist for Students with Special Needs

Location: Pontefract, West Yorkshire

Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Support Specialist to join our committed team. In this role, you will be instrumental in assisting students with various special educational requirements and disabilities, helping them to achieve their maximum potential. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering individualized support to students with special needs in both mainstream and specialized educational settings.
  • Assisting in the execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning approaches.
  • Working collaboratively with educators, therapists, and other professionals to foster inclusive and stimulating learning environments.
  • Encouraging independence and self-esteem among students with special needs through positive reinforcement and support.
  • Tracking student progress and communicating any concerns to the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and relevant parties.
  • Creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels appreciated and encouraged.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with special educational needs and disabilities is highly preferred.
  • A caring and patient attitude, with a genuine commitment to supporting the growth and learning of students with special needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the diverse needs of students in various educational contexts.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education, such as CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning, would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one.
  • Must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 6 months.
