Calibre Search is pleased to present a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Building Surveyor or Building Surveying Manager to join a thriving Building Surveying Practice based just outside of Birmingham.

This Practice has undergone significant growth due to their success in opening a new office in the west side of Birmingham and are now seeking a strategic hire to bring in either an experienced Senior Building Surveyor or an ambitious Building Surveying Manager looking for a challenging role with responsibility and progression.

As the second in command, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the team, including two graduates, and will be the technical surveying lead for a range of ongoing projects. You will have full support from the Practice and other Directors of the business as you progress within this Practice, with achievable and realistic targets to help you progress towards a Director level role later down the line.

While business development skills are always welcomed, this particular role does not require you to be BD focused, allowing you to focus on delivery and assisting the new Director with the team. This role is heavily focused on the education sector, including schools, colleges, and universities, although the Practice is happy to consider Building Surveyors from other sectors with relevant technical skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior level surveyor looking to become more integral to a growing and modern style Consultancy that is on an upward trajectory.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant degree qualified (Building Surveying/Construction Management)
  • MRICS Qualified or close to achieving
  • Proven track record as a Building Surveyor (ideally within a consultancy/client-side environment)
  • Knowledge and experience working through RIBA Stages
  • Responsible for managing and delivering your own projects on time and within budget
  • Experience in commercial surveying, including Pre Acquisition surveys, Dilapidations, Party Wall Disputes, and Landlord & Tenant services
  • Dealing with Tenders, negotiating with contractors, procurement knowledge, and comfortable in client-facing roles and developing client relationships
