Junior Management Accountant
Location: Borehamwood, UK
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000pa (dependent on experience)
Type: Permanent, Full-time, Office-Based
Goodman Masson is a reputable, family-owned enterprise engaged in property development and contracting. Our goal is to excel as a customer-centric developer of high-quality residences and sustainable communities across various sectors in the housing market.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile monthly development evaluations, incorporating current costs, forecasting future expenses, and ensuring accurate cash flow and profit forecasts.
- Prepare materials for board meetings, including KPI reports and performance dashboards.
- Guarantee precise and timely reporting of all financial data for the division.
- Manage monthly journal entries, oversee the Trial Balance, ensure reconciliation of control accounts, and prepare management accounts.
- Assist in arranging bank drawdowns, including providing invoice documentation, drafting drawdown letters, and analyzing construction and sales milestones with financial partners.
- Confirm loan repayments with financial institutions.
- Play a pivotal role in the implementation team for the Housebuilding COINS system.
- Support the financial due diligence reviews of subcontractors.
- Assist in establishing Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
- Calculate Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and overage payments, preparing payment requests accordingly.
- Help in the preparation of monthly VAT returns and identify discrepancies.
- Review council tax, business rates, utility expenses, estate agent fees, and other associated costs.
- Prepare payment requests for expenditures and assess if costs align with budgetary constraints.
- Compile key progress reports for Build Stages.
- Engage in additional project work to assist the Head of Finance.
- Visit development sites to gain insights into ongoing projects.
Requirements
- Part Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent).
- Experience in the housebuilding sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial and management accounting principles (Accruals, Prepayments, Intercompany reconciliations).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel at an advanced level (XLOOKUPS, SUMIFS, Conditional Formatting).
- Strong report writing capabilities with the ability to communicate financial results effectively at various levels.
- Experience with the COINS system is preferred but not essential.
