Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Biocatalysis and Enzyme Engineering to lead the development and application of innovative enzyme systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biocatalysis, enzyme engineering, and process development, coupled with experience in leveraging AI for biotechnological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a strategy plan for the biocatalysis division that aligns with the company's objectives and mission.
  • Develop and optimise biocatalytic processes to ensure efficiency, scalability, and affordability, while prioritising environmental sustainability.
  • Oversee, guide, and motivate a team of scientists and engineers working across disciplines.
  • Utilise AI-driven methods to design, develop, and optimise enzyme systems.
  • Collaborate with AI experts to incorporate machine learning methods into process optimisation and enzyme engineering.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with research organisations, business executives, and academic institutions.
  • Contribute to the company's strategic planning and decision-making processes by offering thought leadership.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of process development, enzyme engineering, and biocatalysis.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead productive teams in a professional setting.
  • Prominent publication history in esteemed journals showcasing thought leadership and expertise in biocatalysis and enzyme engineering.
  • Track record of successfully utilising AI and machine learning for biotechnological applications.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable chemistry, renewable resources, and waste management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to operate tactically and strategically.
