Job Summary

A unique opportunity has arisen to join the Practice Development Team at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton as the Clinical Educator for the Children's Surgical Ward. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Paediatric Nurse who is keen to share their expertise in children's surgical care.

Main Responsibilities

Teaching and supporting nursing staff to develop their skills in the clinical area, ensuring they meet their competencies to deliver high-quality care for sick children and young people within the Children's Surgical Ward. Creating a positive learning environment that promotes staff continued professional development. Influencing and implementing the education strategy within the Children's Hospital, and being at the forefront of nurse education and workforce development.

About the Role

As a Clinical Educator, you will work closely with the Practice Development Lead and Department Leads to ensure good communication between teams. You will develop relationships with clinical staff working within the department to foster development and opportunities for education and supervision. You will acknowledge different levels of knowledge and skills of staff when providing advice and negotiating on educational and professional development issues.

Requirements
  • NMC registration RCN/RN with substantial paediatric experience
  • Educated to degree level
  • Experience of clinical teaching and/or supporting learners in practice
  • Significant experience working on a Children's Surgical Ward
  • Practice Supervisor / Practice Assessor / Mentorship Module or equivalent
  • Demonstrates specialist paediatric expertise underpinned by theory
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • APLS provider
