Job Title: Clinical Paediatric Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Paediatric Psychologist to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide psychological assessments and treatments to children and young people with long term health conditions.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver psychological support and evidence-based treatments to children and young people with long term health conditions.
  • Evaluate the efficacy, efficiency, and acceptability of assessments and treatments.
  • Work collaboratively with paediatric colleagues to assess and meet the treatment needs of children and young people with long term health conditions.
  • Offer advice and consultation on psychological challenges experienced by children with long term health conditions to other professionals.
  • Contribute to team decisions about treatment options considering complex biopsychosocial factors.
  • Facilitate understanding across teams about the nature of psychological challenges faced by children and young people with physical health problems and long term health conditions.
  • Provide education, training, and supervision to psychologists and other professionals to enhance skills and expertise in the area of long term health conditions.
Person Specification:
  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology.
  • Post qualification clinical experience in Paediatric Psychology or a related field.
  • Evidence of advanced post qualification training and/or CPD to support specialist therapeutic work in the paediatric medical context.
  • A thorough understanding of the psychological sequelae of physical health problems, including long term health conditions.
