Your Role

As a Principal Software Developer, you will play a crucial role in refining our systems, collaborating directly with users of your software, including quantitative analysts and sports traders who provide valuable feedback.

You will have the autonomy to work independently and take charge of our trading strategies and pricing feeds from conception to execution.

Technology Stack

Your work will involve a diverse technology stack, including:

  • Python (primarily versions 3.5+ for new projects and 2.7 for some legacy systems)
  • Go for infrastructure services
  • Linux servers
  • PostgreSQL for data management
  • ZeroMQ and RabbitMQ for backend communication
  • jQuery and React for frontend development

Innovation and Problem Solving

You will have the opportunity to explore innovative ideas and propose new tools. Whether it's determining the best method for parsing input data or evaluating the suitability of various storage solutions, you will be expected to investigate and recommend optimal approaches based on the specific challenges at hand.

We are an open-source-friendly organization, valuing it when feasible, yet we recognize that sometimes proprietary solutions may be more effective. We believe in the importance of testing but advocate for its judicious use. Often, delivering functional code that accomplishes 95% of the task is preferable to perfect code that arrives significantly delayed.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should possess a minimum of 5 years of commercial experience and hold a numerical degree or a degree in computer science from a reputable university. While familiarity with our specific technologies is not mandatory, experience with multiple programming languages is advantageous.

A background in software development is preferred, and strong mathematical and analytical skills are a plus. If you have a natural skepticism towards Microsoft and Apple products, we encourage you to reach out.
