Health and Social Care Department Head

Dunbar Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Health and Social Care to lead the department at a supportive secondary school in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated teacher with leadership capabilities to take on a key role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring students receive a high-quality education.
The department delivers the NCFE Cache Level 1/2 Technical Award starting in Year 9 and BTEC Level 3 qualifications at KS5. As the Head of Health and Social Care, you will work closely with another full-time teacher to develop the curriculum, provide academic and social support to students, and contribute to the school's extended provision.
This role involves teaching Health and Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The department also provides students with real-world experience through work placements in local pre-schools and primary schools, along with Post-16 apprenticeships. Collaboration and well-being are key within the team, making it a great place to work and grow professionally.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Health and Social Care department and develop the curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Teach Health and Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Work closely with another full-time teacher to provide academic and social support to students.
- Contribute to the school's extended provision, including after-school interventions and clubs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proven experience in teaching Health and Social Care up to KS5.
- Strong subject knowledge across Level 2 and Level 3 specifications.
- Leadership experience or the ability to lead a department.
- Passion for teaching and student development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
