About the Role
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our dynamic team within the Acute Medical Floor. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the ward.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm welcome to patients and visitors, ensuring their needs are met and they feel at ease in the ward environment.
- Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and filed correctly.
- Answer and respond to telephone calls, taking messages and relaying information to nursing staff as required.
- Coordinate the booking of appointments and arrange for the transportation of patients as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of patient notes and x-rays, ensuring they are accurately labeled and stored.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, patients, and visitors, providing clear and concise information as required.
Requirements
- Hold a NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Have a strong understanding of administrative procedures and protocols.
- Be proficient in the use of computer software, including Microsoft Office and care flow systems.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
