The Market Surgery is a busy seven doctor practice providing care to over 10,000 patients in and around Aylsham in North Norfolk.
We are a training practice for GP Registrars and medical students, and we aim to provide a friendly and efficient service to patients fulfilling all their primary care needs.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible nurse to join our nursing team as a Nurse Team Leader.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising the nursing team, providing safe, effective, reactive and proactive nursing services to the practice population.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the nursing team, working closely with the General Practitioners and practice manager to develop an effective, quality-driven nursing service.
- Ensure that the skills and capacity of the whole practice nursing team are deployed to best effect to meet the needs of the practice's patients.
- Provide clinical care for practice patients, including diabetes, COPD, IUD and Implanon fitting experience.
- Implement new clinical services after agreement by the practice.
- Act as the practice lead for better working with other nursing services providing care for our patients.
Leadership/Management Responsibilities:
- Attend practice/primary care meetings, updating the partners and management with relevant information.
- Have regular meetings with the nursing team to understand any clinical or organisational problems.
- Work closely with the practice manager to manage staff within the nursing team.
- Participate in the recruitment of new staff when the need arises and ensure that they are inducted fully into the practice.
- Work with management to ensure that all staff have a training plan and keep themselves professionally updated.
Other Responsibilities:
- Support the practice manager where necessary so that all staff who have been absent have a return to work interview and are supported appropriately when they return to work.
- Practice independently in accordance with UKCC code of conduct and with reference to practice guidelines, appropriately referring to GPs and other professionals.
- Develop links with other local organisations that deliver health improvement programmes and/or work on the improving the wider determinants of health to ensure that practice services are synergistic with those wider services as far as possible.
Person Specification:
- Up-to-date training in childhood immunisations.
- Health promotion.
- Family planning.
Qualifications:
- RGN Qualification.
- Current NMC registration.
- Accredited training in chronic disease management.
- Cervical cytology qualification.
