We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Healthcare Scientist. This is an excellent opportunity for a state-registered Biomedical Scientist to work in a cutting-edge laboratory environment.
About the RoleAs a Healthcare Scientist, you will be responsible for working in a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality laboratory services. You will be expected to have a strong understanding of laboratory-based computers, audits, SOPs, ISO standards, and quality. The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible and adaptable.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate complex clinical scientific service-related test information to managers, consultants, nurses, other healthcare colleagues, patients, and patient carers.
- Answer telephone inquiries from pathology users, patients, and patient carers about test results and provide information that is highly complex about methodologies and service requirements.
- Interpret results and reassure users that the information is correct when results do not agree with clinical presentation and investigate and problem-solve situations in their specialist field.
- Manage own work and day-to-day routine work in specialized services. Responsible for processing both urgent and routine work to maintain routine turnaround times in line with Trust and Service policies.
- Maintain very complex specialist analytical equipment on a daily basis and sign off as fit for clinical use.
- Manage and maintain specialized databases in laboratory computer systems and patient storage databases on a daily basis.
- Responsible for inputting and amending specialist patient data and results, which includes other colleagues' work.
- Educate and train medical staff, clinical scientists, other BMS, trainee BMS, and MLAs as required within their specialized area.
- Provide safety supervision and training for junior members of staff and actively promote safe working practices in all areas of the laboratory.
We are looking for a candidate with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent and state registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC). The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the assays performed within their service and be able to work within a team, with good communication skills and technical proficiency.
