Role Overview
The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Safety and Environment Manager within the Transport Programme. This is a key position that requires strong technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of nuclear materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety and environmental management strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development and maintenance of safety cases for vehicles and equipment employed on Transport Operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective safety management across nuclear safety management interfaces.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to support the Transport Programme and commercial activities.
- Facilitate safety and environmental committees, panels, and working groups to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
- Professionally recognized environmental management qualification or relevant experience.
- Strong technical background and experience managing safety in a complex high-hazard enterprise.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve program objectives.
