Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic General Practice Assistant to join our team. As a General Practice Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our GPs and other healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist GPs with routine administration and clinical tasks, freeing up their time to focus on patient care.
- Manage patient lists, ensuring accurate and timely recording of patient information.
- Sort and prioritize clinical post, signposting relevant information to other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Extract information from clinical letters and add to patient notes.
- Arrange appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments for patients.
- Prepare patients for GP consultations, taking brief histories and basic readings as required.
- Perform basic clinical procedures, including dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs, and phlebotomy.
- Complete basic forms and core elements of more complex forms for GP approval and signature.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining treatment procedures and providing support as needed.
- Assist GPs with liaison with outside agencies, including arranging on-call doctor consultations and admissions.
