Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction and advice on the estate, ensuring that the built environment is safe for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and advice on the estate to ensure it is safe, efficient, and effective.
  • Hold corporate and professional responsibility for estates and facilities service standards, governance, policies, financial management, statutory and regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Develop and implement effective financial control procedures to ensure robust financial, legal, and risk management.
  • Establish effective partnerships with other organizations at a senior level, preferably a mix of public, private, and voluntary sector.
  • Lead complex negotiations and build strategic comprehension to understand long-term or widespread implications of decisions.
  • Write and present complex information, including business cases, tender specifications, and board reports and policies.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant estates or facilities discipline.
  • Post-graduate qualification at doctorate level (doctorate or equivalent in a relevant discipline).
  • Project management qualification or equivalent level of experience.
  • Significant senior management experience in a large organization in estates and facilities management.
  • Experience of effective partnership working with other organizations at a senior level, preferably a mix of public, private, and voluntary sector.
  • Strong commercial and contracts management experience to ensure robust financial, legal, and risk management.
  • Ability to demonstrate evidence of setting and achieving ambitious targets and implementing innovative solutions designed to improve services within tight financial constraints.
  • Understanding and broad knowledge of the whole NHS context, including knowledge of the national agenda and the impact on the estate/Trust (desirable).
