Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning
    • Deliver ESOL lessons to students from pre-entry level to Level 2, using a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet individual needs.
    • Teach Functional Skills Entry level Maths, ensuring that students achieve and progress in their learning.
    • Create an inspirational learning environment that promotes high expectations of learner achievement, success, and progression.
    • Engage with parents and carers to ensure they are informed and supportive of their child's progress.
  • Behaviour Management and Support
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, embedding trust and support within the education process.
    • Ensure that lessons are well-planned and enable learners to achieve and progress, with a focus on behaviour management and student support.
    • Model inclusive learning practices and celebrate diversity in the classroom.
  • Curriculum Development and Planning
    • Oversee and coordinate the development of the ESOL curriculum, ensuring that it meets the needs of our students and is aligned with regulatory requirements.
    • Plan, produce, and update schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements.
    • Prepare and deliver lessons/learning activities that are informed by relevant and up-to-date subject and curriculum knowledge.
  • Assessment and Monitoring
    • Implement and maintain systems for monitoring and evaluating learning activities, ensuring that they are effective and worthwhile.
    • Identify clear teaching objectives, learning outcomes, and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
    • Support and guide learners to reflect on their learning, identify progress, and set targets for improvement.
  • Administrative and Reporting Tasks
    • Undertake relevant administrative tasks associated with the teaching function, including examination/accreditation entries and register taking.
    • Provide management information and statistical data as required.
Requirements
  • A recognised teaching qualification is essential.
  • A Degree in a related subject and Level 5 Teaching Qualification is desirable.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time, 37-hour per week position, working on a permanent contract, term-time only (41 weeks). The salary is £22, £31,601.10 pro-rata per annum (based on £24,961 - £35,360 FTE). A full driving licence and access to a car are required for this role.
