Position: Portfolio Underwriting Analyst

As a key contributor at mbf, you will serve as a Portfolio Management Specialist, significantly influencing our underwriting strategy to align with corporate objectives and risk tolerance. Your role will facilitate collaboration between underwriting and actuarial departments, ensuring the portfolio's success both now and in the future.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Oversight: Develop and sustain a comprehensive set of portfolio management instruments (such as WTW Radar and Power BI) to visualize and assess performance, pinpointing risks and opportunities.
  • Insightful Analysis: Perform in-depth analyses to reveal trends and guide strategic decisions, persuading stakeholders to foster ongoing enhancements.
  • Strategic Guidance: Offer essential insights on underwriting, risk management, and disaster scenario modeling, ensuring the portfolio is in line with the established risk appetite.
  • KPI Assessment: Monitor and report on key performance indicators for senior leadership and capital stakeholders.
  • Culture Development: Promote a data-centric culture, encouraging the integration of analytical tools across various teams.

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in Excel and data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qliksense).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional communication and data storytelling abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Programming experience (Python, R, SQL).
  • Knowledge of WTW Radar.
  • Background in predictive analytics and data governance.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years in portfolio management, pricing, underwriting, or similar analytical roles within the insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with the London insurance market.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, actuarial science, data science, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications (Actuarial, CFA, Data Science, etc.) are advantageous.
