We operate a vast direct-to-store distribution network, enabling us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties. Our manufacturing units and distribution depots across the UK are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and processes to ensure efficient production and delivery.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Shift Manager to lead our engineering shift team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a high-performing culture, planning and prioritizing shift workload, executing preventative maintenance schedules, and ensuring a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Engineering Shift Team: Foster a culture of excellence, motivate team members, and support their development and achievement of goals.
- Plan and Prioritize Shift Workload: Maximize machinery uptime, minimize disruption to production targets, and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Execute Preventative Maintenance Schedules: Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks, minimize downtime, and maintain equipment reliability.
- Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Enforce adherence to relevant legislation, ensure proper use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Manage Permit-to-Work Systems: Ensure contractors and colleagues work safely, adhere to good manufacturing practices, and maintain accurate records.
- Lead by Example: Demonstrate a strong work ethic, lead by example, and encourage team members to do the same.
- Document Shift Activities and Performance: Maintain accurate records, escalate relevant events, and contribute to daily meetings.
- Qualifications: Hold a mechanical or electrical engineering qualification gained through a time-served apprenticeship or study, ideally at NVQ L3.
- Knowledge and Experience: Possess knowledge of permit systems, risk assessments, and method statements. Have supervisory experience, practical experience of fault finding on various types of manufacturing machinery, and display PLC awareness and fault finding capabilities.
- Food or FMCG Manufacturing Experience: Desirable, but not essential.
