About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join our Database Support team at Companies House. As a key member of our agile team, you will be responsible for defining, building, and maintaining our database technologies, ensuring high availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Database Technology Management
  • Define and implement new database technologies to support our business functions
  • Manage database configuration, security, and access
  • Lead database upgrades and ensure timely patching
Service Availability and Performance
  • Monitor capacity and performance using Oracle OEM
  • Implement proactive measures to ensure high availability
Incident Management and Problem Solving
  • Manage incidents, requests, changes, and problems
  • Provide resolutions, including root cause analysis
Team Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
  • Mentor and share knowledge with team members
  • Lead and coach senior infrastructure engineers on best practices

Requirements

  1. Technical Expertise
  • Extensive experience with Oracle RDBMS, Oracle running on Amazon EC2, Oracle running on Amazon RDS, and MongoDB
  • Strong understanding of release and deployment cycles
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in an agile environment
