Risk & Controls Manager - M&G Life

M&G plc is seeking an exceptional Risk & Controls Manager to join our highly respected Risk, Assurance and Remediation team with our Life Division. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of operational risk across our business areas.

The Role:

As a Risk & Controls Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing risk and controls across Operations, Individual Life & Pensions, Corporate Risk Solutions, Treasury & Investment Office, and International Life. You will work closely with the Head of Risk (Life) and senior leadership teams in M&G Life to provide risk oversight of our material third parties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement risk management practices in line with M&G's Operational Risk Framework.
  • Support the Managing Director/s to identify and assess key risks, plan appropriate risk treatment paths, and identify and implement key controls.
  • Monitor risk and control environment metrics and other indicators to ensure effective risk management.
  • Establish and chair local governance forums for supported Business Areas.
  • Provide inputs or escalations to Life and PAC risk reporting team as required.
  • Identify and assess emerging risks proactively with the relevant Business Area.
  • Manage or support thematic risk, control, or policy adherence reviews as required.
  • Ensure RCSA owners regularly self-assess top risks impacting the business area and accountable for delivering high-quality RCSA submissions.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 10-15 years of experience working in regulated financial services organisations, in a Line 1 or 2 role.
  • Experience of implementing risk frameworks and methodologies.
  • A collaborative nature, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues in Risk, Operations, and other key functions within M&G Life and across the Group.
  • Working knowledge of Life and pensions products, markets, and competitors (advantageous).
