Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Building Surveyor to join our Property Services division. Reporting directly to the Head of Property Services, the Building Surveyor will play a crucial role in guaranteeing that our clients receive top-tier service and quality retirement accommodations by performing the following duties:

  • Overseeing both external and internal building repairs, maintenance, refurbishments, and 'Section 20' works across our retirement portfolio, collaborating with external consultants and contractors as necessary.
  • Ensuring that all developments are compliant, functional, and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Conducting on-site property assessments to gather reliable stock condition data for future asset management and maintenance strategies.
  • Assisting the operations team with property-related inquiries and processes, while maintaining strong communication and relationships with internal stakeholders, including the Property Services team, Lodge Managers, and Regional Management teams.

The Building Surveyor role is operational, and responsibilities may evolve in line with the company's growth or through individual training and development initiatives.

This position requires flexibility to travel across various regions in the UK, primarily England, for which a company vehicle or allowance will be provided.

Candidate Profile

You should possess a solid understanding and experience in construction, building defect analysis, property maintenance, Health & Safety regulations, Building Codes, and other related matters.

A degree or equivalent qualification in property construction, engineering, or surveying is required, and you should either hold or be pursuing a professional qualification in construction, such as RICS or CIOB.

Your skills in relationship management, communication, and active listening will extend to a diverse range of suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proficient in IT including MS Office applications, detail-oriented, and possess a proactive, flexible approach to work. You will thrive in a dynamic environment.
