Job Title: Visiting Services Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Visiting Services Specialist to join Enfield Council's team. As a key member of our Assessment Hub, you will provide visiting support services to customers, delivering a high-standard of technical assessment and collection advice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver visiting support services across the Assessment Hub, including property inspections, residency checks, and verification visits.
  • Provide technical assessment and collection advice, maintaining a professional and positive image to customers.
  • Develop skills to deliver consistent and efficient support services, handling customer enquiries professionally and effectively.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date records of customer contact and work undertaken.
  • Work closely with Assessment Hub managers for an integrated strategic approach to service operation.
  • Engage effectively with vulnerable or challenging customers, maintaining wide knowledge of policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Promote the use of the council website as a resource for financial assessment, income, debt, and income maximisation enquiries.
  • Contribute to service team meetings, suggesting improvements to procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Organize and prioritize workload, renegotiating targets/deadlines as needed.
  • Escalate issues as necessary, ensuring effective use of IT systems.
  • Support continuous improvement and the implementation of automation and efficient ways of working.
  • Adhere to Council's Policies and Procedures, including Health & Safety and Equalities & Diversity policies.
  • Work as part of a team, assisting in the delivery and completion of assessment/collection work, and supporting different work projects.
  • Maintain accurate communication with the line manager about the progress of work.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience of collection/assessment roles and relevant business administration or professional qualifications.
  • A good understanding of collection, income-related assessments, and benefit services delivered across the Council.
  • Familiar with best practice approaches in collection/assessment of income-related and other reductions within a local authority environment.
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits and principles of value for money in decision making.
