We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead at Leonardo, a leader in the development of advanced Defence Communications technology.

In this pivotal role, you will deliver cutting-edge Mechanical Engineering solutions while overseeing the creation of Communication and Electronic Counter Measure Products.

Your responsibilities will include working alongside a skilled team to tackle challenges presented by our clients, leveraging our extensive history of excellence in the industry.

The ideal candidate will be instrumental in mentoring and nurturing the growth of fellow engineers within the Mechanical Team, promoting a culture of ongoing learning and professional development.

At Leonardo, we provide a flexible work environment that includes both on-site and remote options, with occasional requirements for team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead:

  • Direct Mechanical Engineering initiatives throughout the Engineering Lifecycle, ensuring compliance with all specifications
  • Develop Mechanical solutions for complex environments
  • Maintain quality and uniformity in design outputs
  • Employ 3D CAD software for Mechanical design and innovation
  • Assist in resolving technical challenges
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals
  • Guide junior Mechanical Engineers through mentorship
  • Lead design review sessions
  • Contribute to the development of Functional Processes and Best Practices
  • Oversee Work Package delivery to achieve optimal results

Requirements:

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • Background in Electro-mechanical product development
  • Expertise in 3D CAD tools (preferably PTC Creo)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Familiarity with Structural and Thermal Analysis techniques
  • Understanding of various Design for Excellence (DfX) principles
  • Proven leadership experience

Desirable Skills:

  • Master of Engineering (MEng) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) products
  • Knowledge of Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Integration experience within Military contexts
  • Capability for preliminary analyses
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Design methodologies
  • Awareness of current trends in the Mechanical Engineering sector
