Position Overview: We are in search of a proficient Practice Bookkeeper to join our esteemed accountancy firm, recognized for delivering extensive financial solutions to a wide array of clients. This position is tailored for a capable bookkeeper with a solid background in practice, especially with expertise in Xero and Dext, along with a good grasp of various VAT schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure precise and current financial records for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Utilize Xero and Dext software to process and reconcile client accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, guaranteeing timely and accurate transaction processing.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, adeptly handling different VAT schemes (e.g., Standard, Flat Rate, Cash Accounting).
  • Engage with clients to collect essential financial data and address any bookkeeping inquiries.
  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial statements as necessary.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and oversee cash flow monitoring for clients.
  • Support the year-end process by preparing accurate trial balances and related documentation.
  • Stay informed on changes in tax regulations to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Provide mentorship and assistance to junior team members when needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Essential proficiency in Xero and Dext (formerly Receipt Bank).
  • Strong understanding of various VAT schemes and the capability to prepare accurate VAT returns.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the capacity to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple client accounts effectively.
  • AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable but not mandatory.
