Position Overview: At Barnardo's, the largest children's charity in the UK, we are embarking on an innovative partnership with local authorities to provide essential services for vulnerable children and young people.

Service Details: Welland House features three self-contained units designed to accommodate up to three families simultaneously. The families we support may include those facing challenges such as moderate to high learning needs, domestic violence, substance misuse, and mental health issues. Our dedicated staff provide essential support and guidance to parents during their stay, working closely with local children's services.

Our team at Welland House is committed to fostering a nurturing environment, focusing on best practices through mentorship, key work sessions, and practical advice on safety, routines, and boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish trusting and nurturing relationships that enhance the independence and well-being of service users.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support.
  • Supervise and guide Residential Support Workers in their daily responsibilities.
  • Assist in maintaining the household, including cooking and cleaning duties.
  • Accurately document information and keep records current.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment at all times.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or a commitment to obtain it within the required timeframe.
  • A minimum of one year of supervisory experience in a family support setting.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

While Welland House will be your primary location, flexibility to travel to other sites may be required.
