Job Overview

Medical Laboratory Assistant Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our laboratory staff in the analysis and diagnosis of patient samples.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist laboratory staff in the preparation and analysis of patient samples
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks, including histology and cytology
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve high-quality results

Requirements

  • GCSE passes in English and Maths or equivalent
  • Previous laboratory experience or a scientific background
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Manual dexterity and ability to work with human tissues
