Medical Laboratory Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Blood Transfusion team at our HCA Laboratories in London.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and separate blood, serum, and plasma samples for analysis
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Perform analyzer maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Receive and manage laboratory samples
  • Load and unload analyzers
  • Manage reagent and consumable stock levels
  • Liaise with the Materials department on laboratory supplies and deliveries
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order
  • Assist Biomedical Scientists in performing analytical functions
  • Support all sections within the Transfusion laboratory
  • Verify and maintain accurate documentation
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • A-level equivalent in science subjects
  • Previous laboratory experience is desirable
  • Strong IT skills and ability to learn new software
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
