Eligibility Criteria
This position is open to all candidates holding a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Personal Identification Number (PIN). Please note that applicants with only a Personal Reference Number (PRN) should refrain from applying.
Main Responsibilities
We seek enthusiastic and open-minded nurses eager to work at the forefront of cardiothoracic care. If you are a compassionate individual with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
In your daily role, you will collaborate with the clinical team to provide care to cardiothoracic patients, working alongside members of the multidisciplinary team.
About Our Organization
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering exceptional care. Our Acute Cardiac Care Unit is a specialized 40-bed facility dedicated to patients requiring cardiac assessments and interventions. We manage a variety of cases, including those needing advanced procedures and end-of-life care.
Our unit is supported by two Practice Educators who offer outstanding training and mentorship. Staff members benefit from in-house training sessions and have the opportunity to pursue postgraduate education. Additionally, our team includes specialist nurses who provide valuable insights as you expand your knowledge.
No prior cardiothoracic experience is necessary, as we provide comprehensive training and support through our Practice Education teams and nursing development resources.
Work Schedule
This role requires flexibility, with shifts covering weekdays, nights, and weekends.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with a valid UK NMC PIN
- Completion of UK student nurse training at diploma or degree level
Essential Experience
- Ability to practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Demonstrated application of the NHS Plan within your practice
Desirable Experience
- Experience supervising junior staff, depending on prior experience
- Understanding of the structure and organization of the NHS
Essential Skills
- Strong command of English and excellent verbal communication abilities
Desirable Skills
- Capability to manage challenging situations effectively
