Civil Engineering Design Specialist

Location: Warrington

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000

We are collaborating with a prominent residential developer in the North West, dedicated to crafting innovative, modern, and energy-efficient housing solutions. As new projects are initiated, there is a need to enhance their technical team.

In this pivotal role, you will be an integral member of a compact and cohesive technical team located in Warrington. This position is highly hands-on, involving collaboration with the land and technical teams, as well as other departments within the organization, all under the guidance of the Technical Manager. Your primary focus will be on the creation of Civil Design Packages, ensuring compliance with regulations while maximizing efficiency through value engineering principles. This is a remarkable opportunity to contribute positively to the organization and refine processes.

We welcome applications from candidates who may not have extensive experience but possess the enthusiasm and readiness to learn, develop, and acquire new skills in a vibrant and dynamic environment. However, prior experience in a residential context is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Concepts: Develop civil design concepts for site feasibility assessments, including ground modeling.
  • Complete Packages: Produce comprehensive civil design packages for new developments.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize design software for highways, drainage, and earthworks.
  • Technical Approvals: Secure necessary S278/S38/S104/S185 approvals from relevant authorities.
  • Assist with Planning: Support the Architectural Manager with Planning and Building Regulations submissions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Development Engineer on both new and ongoing projects.
  • Structural Coordination: Liaise with Structural Engineers for projects involving structural components.
  • Query Resolution: Address design-related inquiries from Commercial, Sales, and Site teams, ensuring design compliance on-site.
  • Consultant Management: Oversee relationships with external consultants as necessary.

Key Skills:

  • Experience: Ideally, you should be capable of performing all the aforementioned tasks, but we are also open to candidates with less experience who are eager to learn and develop.
  • Aptitude: A willingness to acquire new skills in a dynamic setting, while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
