Position Overview

We are seeking applications for a full-time position within our esteemed hospital, dedicated to serving a diverse population. This role is aligned with the established consultant contract terms.

Departmental Insights

The Respiratory Division has pioneered a Needs Based Care (NBC) approach since its inception, ensuring that patient allocation is determined by clinical necessity rather than age. This innovative model has led to enhanced patient care continuity, minimizing handovers and establishing a single accountable consultant for each patient, thereby fostering safer practices and improved outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will collaborate with the Respiratory Multi-Disciplinary Team, primarily focusing on inpatient and elective care pathways within the respiratory wards, including the High Dependency Unit (HDU) and Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) services.

The role entails:

  • Participating in daily ward rounds alongside consultants.
  • Managing patient care within the Respiratory unit and HDU.
  • Conducting patient reviews across various medical wards and the emergency department for admissions and NIV support.
  • Potentially rotating into other duties, including ward cover, pleural procedures, bronchoscopic examinations, and outpatient clinic responsibilities.

It is essential for the appointee to seek guidance from the appropriate consultant when faced with challenges, ensuring that responsibilities remain within their expertise.
