The Project Manager's role is to oversee and guide a project and its team on a daily basis. This position is accountable for steering and ensuring the successful execution of the project, guaranteeing that the goals are well-defined and met within the established time, budget, and quality parameters. The Project Manager plays a crucial role in project governance and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure that the agreed project deliverables are achieved, facilitating the realization of benefits.

This position presents an exciting opportunity to assist in leading, driving, and implementing significant transformations across HSE, propelled by a new strategy and several challenging transformation initiatives.

Occasional travel to various HSE offices may be required, including some overnight stays.

Part-time working hours are available for this position. We welcome part-time candidates who can commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Standard Process: Adhere to a standardized methodology such as Prince 2 throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Delivery: Initiate and guide the project to achieve the agreed outcomes within the designated time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Project Management: Oversee daily management and leadership of the project and its team. Provide effective leadership and management controls. Establish project controls. Design the project structure and organization suitable for each stage. Set appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transitions between project phases.
  • Business Case: Develop and draft the Business Case, incorporating input from specialists as needed.
  • Budget: Formulate the budget and monitor adherence to it.
  • Resource Management: Identify skill requirements; deploy and develop resources. Manage a medium-sized team.
  • Benefits Realization: Deliver the agreed Business Case benefits and outcomes. Ensure a suitable Benefits Realization Strategy is in place and track the long-term delivery of benefits against the Business Case.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identify and manage stakeholder relationships and the need for senior-level support. Manage internal and external relationships as necessary.
  • Risk and Issue Management: Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigation strategies and escalate as appropriate. Collaborate with related projects to manage interdependencies.
  • Governance: Support effective governance and decision-making. Provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, accountable for delivery.
  • Assurance: Participate in assurance reviews and support actions on recommendations. Organize assurance processes such as gateway reviews, as required.
  • Change Management: Ensure effective Change Management processes are established to agree and document changes to deliverables as per stakeholder agreements.
  • Guidance and Support: Offer support, guidance, and coaching for the project team. Demonstrate commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance.
  • Project Performance and Controls: Communicate the vision and translate it into delivery objectives for the team. Develop and maintain the Project Plan. Identify and establish appropriate Project Controls. Manage performance and report progress to sponsors.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Criteria:

  • Proven track record in project management delivery.
  • Experience managing projects using Microsoft Project.
  • Experience overseeing budgets and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Experience leading and managing teams.
  • Knowledge of project methodologies and software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

This arrangement is voluntary and non-contractual, with your designated office being your contractual workplace. There will be a requirement to travel to the office for various activities, collaborative efforts, and training.
