About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as Assistant English Subject Improvement Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving improvements in English attainment across our secondary schools.

As Assistant English Subject Improvement Lead, you will work closely with the English Improvement Lead to embed best practice and build capacity in line with our policies and frameworks. You will be responsible for coordinating and supporting curriculum intent and implementation in English at designated schools, as well as leading the development and implementation of our Reading Strategy.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong track record of improving results as a subject leader, as well as experience of developing and delivering high-impact intervention programmes. You will also have a passion for securing life-changing outcomes for young people in disadvantaged communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the English Improvement Lead to embed best practice and build capacity in line with our policies and frameworks.
  • Coordinate and support curriculum intent and implementation in English at designated schools.
  • Lead the development and implementation of our Reading Strategy.
  • Develop and deliver high-impact intervention programmes to improve English attainment.
  • Work with schools to identify and address gaps in learning and to develop strategies to improve outcomes for students.
Requirements
  • English degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • National Professional Qualification (NPQ) in middle or senior leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of the AQA specification in GCSE English Language and Literature.
  • Experience of delivering outstanding results consistently and a track record of improving results as a subject leader.
  • Experience of developing and delivering high-impact intervention programmes.
  • Ability to analyse assessment data and use it effectively to identify and close gaps in learning.
  • Successful delivery of training and coaching for English teachers.
  • Passion for securing life-changing outcomes for young people in disadvantaged communities.
