About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our team as a Deputy Manager at Jasmine Lodge, Mother & Baby Unit. This is a 10-month maternity leave cover position, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Assist the Ward Manager in setting up standards, promoting change, and developing nursing practice, supervision, and audit.
    • Deputise for the manager in their absence, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit.
    • Lead and supervise staff to provide a high-quality, effective service, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Patient Care and Treatment
    • Ensure that care plans are implemented and reviewed as part of ongoing assessment, promoting good practice in the management of acutely disturbed clients.
    • Ensure that robust, up-to-date risk assessments are carried out by relevant staff, maintaining the highest standards of care.
  • Service Development and Implementation
    • Work with the Ward Manager to review, update, and implement standards and policies for use in adult inpatient settings, as appropriate.
    • Participate in ongoing training and education progress, staying up-to-date with current initiatives in inpatient care.
  • Human Resources and Administration
    • Provide supervision and appraisals for qualified staff, demonstrating effective leadership and management skills.
    • Participate in audits, ensuring accurate documentation and maintaining clinical/care records.
Person Specification
  • Essential
    • Substantial post-registration experience, preferably in an acute inpatient setting.
    • Experience as a Band 5 in an acute inpatient setting, with a strong understanding of mental health nursing principles.
    • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), with excellent communication and liaison skills.
    • Clinical supervision and mentoring experience, with the ability to assess and manage risk effectively.
    • Ability to work flexibly, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Desirable
    • Experience in perinatal mental health, with a strong understanding of the complexities of this specialty.
