Cherry Professional is excited to collaborate with a rapidly expanding Energy firm located in the East Midlands. This role is crucial in assisting the Board, Head of Finance, and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional reporting, performance management, and governance frameworks.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, including rigorous assessments of gross margin and cost assumptions, risk and opportunity evaluations, and capital expenditure analysis for informed management decisions.
  • Establish and uphold robust financial processes and a solid financial control environment.
  • Create management and board reporting packages, analyzing operational results and providing insightful commentary for various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial department and outsourced trading operations to accurately document and comprehend monthly actuals and forecasted gross margins.
  • Assist with the annual audit, review statutory accounts prepared by external partners, and ensure compliance with statutory disclosures.
  • Develop and monitor key financial performance indicators.
  • Maintain and update a 13-week cash flow model along with any liquidity analyses necessary for lender reporting and credit exposure monitoring.
  • Construct and maintain Bank and Asset Valuation models to facilitate engagement with Project Lenders, Investors, and potential partners, enabling the evaluation of debt financing options at the project level.
  • Oversee the integrated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow lifetime value model, running scenarios related to further investments, distributions, and market condition changes.
  • Innovate new financial models to support the assessment of new business growth opportunities, capital investment projects, and new trading/commercial products and services.
  • Act as a deputy for the Head of Finance when necessary.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 4-8 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Expertise in Excel and advanced financial modeling (including three-statement modeling).
  • Comprehensive understanding of valuation and finance/accounting principles.
  • Strong strategic agility, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
  • Proven experience in leading financial process transformations.
