About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Renewable Energy Development Specialist to join our team at ib vogt. As a key member of our planning department, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality planning applications for our solar, solar+battery storage, and standalone battery storage developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality planning applications for our established pipeline of solar, solar+battery storage, and standalone battery storage developments.
  • Assist the Lead Planner in highlighting risks effectively throughout the planning process and suggest mitigative actions.
  • Lead a panel of external planning consultants and communications experts, and attend site visits and public consultations.
  • Manage all external communications related to the planning process.
  • Monitor costs and budgets, and deliver projects within budget and programme.
  • Ensure compliance with ib vogt's Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Support the Lead Planner in assessing new sites for development, including through the use of GIS tools, data, and site visits across the UK.
  • Work closely with the rest of the team, especially our design engineers, land and grid experts, to ensure the development remains viable.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a degree and/or master's in town planning, with working knowledge of the TCPA planning system. You should have 2-5 years' experience of managing the preparation of complex, major planning applications and appeals, and leading a team of consultants in the UK.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the TCPA planning system.
  • 2-5 years' experience of managing the preparation of complex, major planning applications and appeals.
  • High detail orientation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet changing business needs with a challenging and varying workload.
  • Working well as part of an interdisciplinary team, considering development requirements that are wider than planning.
Nice to Have

We would like to consider candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Full UK driving license.
  • Knowledge of the UK solar and battery development process, in both England and Scotland.
  • Use of GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS).
  • Experience of NSIP/s36/DNS projects.
  • Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
