We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pharmacy Technician to take on the role of Lead Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician at Barts Health NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and lead a team of Pharmacy Technicians, pre-registration pharmacy technicians, and Medicines Management pharmacy assistants to deliver patient-focused, quality care.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the medicines management pharmacy technicians in the promotion and development of ward-based pharmacy technician services.
- Assist pharmacists in ensuring that patients' pharmaceutical care needs are met at ward level, including non-stock supply, re-use of patients' own drugs, discharge planning, patient counseling, and provision of compliance aids.
- Develop the service and roles of the medicines management technicians in conjunction with the clinical pharmacy team.
- Work closely with the Deputy Head of Pharmacy and the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences / NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification.
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.
- HEE LaSE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent.
- Significant experience as a pharmacy technician, with relevant post-registration experience in a hospital pharmacy department and as a ward-based Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience of managing or supervising a small team of staff, training staff, and implementing training plans.
- Medicines management experience in a ward-based setting, including medication history taking, POD assessment, dispensing, accuracy checking, pharmacy labeling, stock control, and report creation systems.
- Experience of completing audits and using Datix incident reporting system or equivalent.
- Experience of patient consultations and leadership experience within a pharmacy service.
