Job Title: Principal/Lead Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal/Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen for a 6-month contract role. This position is outside IR35 and offers a 3/2 hybrid work arrangement in the heart of Aberdeen City Centre.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be accountable for executing electrical engineering activities and ensuring technical quality is maintained within budget and schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing electrical engineering input into tenders and proposals as required.
  • Assessing and continuously improving working practices, systems, personnel, and team efficiency and performance.
  • Supervising, workload allocation, and delivery to assigned electrical engineering personnel.
  • Ensuring assigned work is compliant with agreed budget and schedule.
  • Input and maintenance of project plan, progress updates, and cost control for assigned scopes.
  • Maintaining project scope/schedule changes in accordance with project change control process in conjunction with Planning, Project Engineering, and Project Control functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable/up-to-date standards, regulations, codes, and procedures.
  • Regular liaison with customer focal points and attendance at key meetings as required.
  • Estimate/schedule preparation and approval and electronic submission via digital ecosystem.
  • Maintaining effective communication with client, project management, and inter-discipline teams.
  • Reviewing, checking, and approving (where applicable) electrical engineering work output (including remote working, e-checking/approval, etc.).
  • Electrical checking, approval, and document filing (including electronic).
  • Conducting and supporting the competency assessment of electrical engineering personnel (where applicable).
  • Supporting personal development of electrical engineering personnel.
  • Implementing appropriate engineering processes and procedures.
  • Maintaining regular contact and dialogue with Engineering Manager and Lead Electrical Engineer, highlighting issues, concerns, or areas for improvement.
  • As required, acting as discipline focal point/Lead Engineer.
Desired Qualities/Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • UK bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in appropriate engineering subject (Electrical).
  • Chartered Engineer and member of appropriate engineering Institute.
  • Sound technical background and expertise.
  • Experienced in selection and use of applicable HV & LV codes, practices, standards, and statutory documentation.
  • Competent in the direction and organisation of discipline team within project environment (Small/Medium Sized).
  • Competent in commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of Engineering.
  • Experienced in aspects of discipline design (including multi-discipline) and use of analytical methods including theoretic background.
  • Conducting power system studies encompassing load flow and protection studies.
Desirable:
  • Offshore certification (BOSIET, MIST, Medical, etc.).
