The Lead Technical Service Engineer is tasked with overseeing the more intricate and demanding installations, ensuring consistent communication and support for our clients. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of various systems and products, along with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers, including providing after-hours support as needed.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Technical Service Engineer:

  • Provide assistance to team members with technical challenges, whether through remote support or on-site visits.
  • Conduct monthly audits of engineering practices and report findings to the service management, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting during scheduled maintenance visits, following client instructions and documentation.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to peers, setting a benchmark for excellence in engineering practices and professional presentation.
  • Support the training and development of new engineers, promoting best practices and reporting on their progress to management.

Essential Skills of the Lead Technical Service Engineer:

  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed reports and service documentation.
  • Capability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated initiative and meticulous attention to detail, particularly in the context of life safety systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Required Competencies of the Lead Technical Service Engineer (Fire Systems):

  • Demonstrated experience in the fire safety sector.
  • Proven skills in the installation, testing, commissioning, and servicing of Fire Alarm and Security Systems.
  • Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on systematic resolution.
  • Proficient in IT, with a solid understanding of software applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as programming knowledge for major systems like Morley, Advanced, and Kentec.
  • Specialized knowledge and experience with a wide range of advanced equipment, including Simplex, EST, and Siemens, encompassing software configuration and programming.
