BMR Solutions is seeking an experienced Product Development Specialist to join our team in North Somerset. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and refining product requirements, managing the product roadmap, and overseeing the development process.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of product development methodologies, including design, validation, and manufacturing transition. They will also have experience with safety assessments, compliance standards, and regulations.

The Role:

  • Participate in HAZOP/DFMEA studies
  • Carry out record risk assessments as required in the execution of a project
  • Support the introduction of new products
  • Type testing and compliance testing of designs, including design of experiment
  • Design and develop all mechanical aspects of a product range and participate in design reviews
  • Escalate any technical risks to the senior development engineer
  • Perform engineering calculations and undertake medium to complex FEAs in support of the design

Requirements:

  • A minimum 2:2 Engineering degree or demonstrated industry experience with other engineering qualifications
  • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical design concepts and system testing
  • Familiarity with safety assessments, compliance standards, and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in product development methodologies, including requirements gathering, design, validation, and manufacturing transition
  • Experience with system characterisation, testing, and failure analysis techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Influencing, communication, presentation, and negotiating skills, both internally and externally
