Dunbar Education is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Facilities Manager to join our esteemed independent school in Gerrards Cross. This role is crucial in ensuring that our school's facilities are maintained to the highest standard, creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day management and maintenance of our school's buildings, grounds, and facilities.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of the facilities team, including caretakers, maintenance staff, and cleaners.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular checks, risk assessments, and emergency drills.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the security of our school premises, including managing alarm systems, key control, and out-of-hours access.
  • Manage our school's waste disposal and recycling processes, and ensure the grounds are kept clean and presentable.
  • Coordinate the setup and breakdown of facilities for school events, meetings, and functions.
  • Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring all expenditures are accounted for and within budget.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for cost and energy savings.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar facilities management role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, pupils, contractors, and visitors.
  • IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and facilities management software.
  • A commitment to maintaining our school's values and ethos.
