About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Underwriter to join our team in London. As a key member of our Medical Malpractice team, you will be responsible for underwriting new and existing business across our global portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with our business plan and objectives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including customers, brokers, and business partners
  • Develop relationships to support the achievement of business objectives
  • Understand and comply with our reinsurance strategy to minimize risk and deliver business plan objectives
  • Participate in shaping and developing strategy, knowledge, and best practice
  • Positively promote the department, division, and company to maximize brand leverage
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
  • Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
  • Stay up-to-date with market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness
  • Ensure clear and prompt communication with Underwriting Assistants regarding Underwriting and aggregate exposures

About You

  • Experience in the medical malpractice space, preferably with international exposure
  • Thorough knowledge of the market and wider financial lines space
  • Experience in handling major client insurance programs
  • Commercial ability to understand key profit drivers to maximize long-term wealth for our shareholders
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence actions and attitudes of others through leading by example
  • Good negotiating skills and innovative underwriting approach
