Job Summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineering Manager to lead our engineering projects and teams. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving alignment across engineering functions, ensuring effective project delivery, and developing strong relationships with internal and external business partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive alignment across engineering functions to ensure effective project delivery and transition of projects from inception to handover.
  • Facilitate and align project engineering and project management with overall engineering strategy and standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners to ensure optimal performance and delivery.
  • Ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet site objectives, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Actively work with group and network engineers to align with current standard processes and policies.
  • Operate a process for safe selection of external contractors.
  • Report on project engineering activities to the senior management team.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety, engineering, and quality standards and procedures.

People Management

  • Lead and develop the site engineering team to deliver innovative and sustainable projects.
  • Translate site strategy into measurable departmental goals and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure strong communication to implement timely changes and improvements.
  • Drive design and execution in accordance with cGMPs, environment, health, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Adapt the business structure, resource plans, and drive cultural changes to deliver business objectives.
  • Create a strong succession plan to enable career enhancement.

Business Planning

  • Collaborate with business development to find new opportunities and build on the existing client base.
  • Support new business initiatives and promote innovative sustainable projects.
  • Interpret client requirements to ensure technical, legislative, and commercial aspects are delivered on each project.

Budget Management

  • Prepare the project engineering budget and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with customer and legal requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry or engineering.
  • Extensive experience in project engineering, project management, commissioning, qualification, and validation in pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience with large capital projects.
  • Experience in building and leading a team and working in multi-functional teams.
  • Familiar with setting up standard procedures and processes.
  • Practical decision-making abilities and ability to work independently.

Communication

  • Promote a positive, professional, inclusive, up-to-challenge, and proactive culture within the site.
  • Effectively communicate at all levels to influence and persuade others.
  • Positive leadership, motivating, and inspiring staff to exceed customer expectations.

Leadership

  • Engaging leader with technical expertise, able to anticipate operational and customer needs.
  • Ambassador for the company with professional approach and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Operate with tact and discretion.
