Project Insight

The Hinkley Point C project marks a pivotal development in the UK's energy landscape, being the first new nuclear power station in over two decades. This facility in Somerset aims to deliver low-carbon electricity to approximately 6 million households, generating thousands of employment opportunities and providing enduring advantages to the UK economy.

As a key player in revitalizing the nuclear power sector, Hinkley Point C is set to significantly aid the UK's efforts to lower carbon emissions. The two EPR reactors will collectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 9 million tonnes annually, totaling 600 million tonnes over their operational lifespan.

Key Responsibilities

In the role of Construction Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assigning tasks to Construction Engineers and Works Coordination Leads.
  • Being accountable for delivering Discipline Specific Construction Work Pack scope to facilitate construction operations.
  • Defining the scope boundaries of work.
  • Maintaining and periodically reviewing documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrating strong HSE leadership and fostering a robust health, safety, and environmental culture throughout the project's lifecycle.
  • Ensuring adherence to all nuclear safety and site licensing regulations.
  • Producing Electrical Construction Work Packs.
  • Utilizing the Procon system to enhance construction processes.
  • Coordinating safe access routes to work areas to support construction activities.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent vocational training in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional accreditation in Project Management, Construction, or Engineering.
  • Eligibility for Security Clearance (BPSS or higher).
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Electrical Safe Systems of Work.
